At Almendras López we use the most innovative technology for the almond processing. We have been offering our almonds and taking care of each phase of the almond production process for more than 40 years.
Our production process starts by selecting personally the best in shell almonds from their place of origin in the land. After this first selection, we crack the almonds at our facilities and caliber and select them in order to offer the highest quality products according to our customers’ requirements.
Thanks to the rigorous selection process we can guarantee the sale of almonds in bulk, being chosen those of a superior quality.
Spain is the second main almond producer in the world and the main exporter and producer in Europe. The Spanish production is mainly located in the Mediterranean area, being Andalusia the largest producer area of our country. Spanish almond varieties are featured by a hard or very hard shell with no porous, which gives an extra protection to the fruit against insects, weather conditions or pests.
The Spanish almond is one of the most demanded nuts worldwide, due to its high quality, great nutritional value and intense flavour.
We can find more than 20 different Spanish almond varieties with excellent qualities and diverse product applications depending on the industry (raw material for making nougat, chocolates, marzipan, vegetable drinks, etc.). They also stand out for their unmistakable sweet flavour and great intensity.
In our case, the main Spanish almond varieties we work with are Valencia or Comuna, Guara, Ferragnes, Largueta and Marcona. These almonds are offered to the market in kernels and are classified by their variety, size and the quality of the pieces.
The variety of Spanish Marcona almonds are the most appreciated and the most demanded, especially by the confectionery and nougat industries. This variety is native to Spain like other varieties such as Largueta almonds.
California is the world’s largest producer of almonds. USA almond production is concentrated in the California area, as it has a mild climate which is ideal for growing almond trees and which results in excellent quality fruits.

California almonds are one of the varieties that we import the most and we work with the best international almond suppliers. These almonds are characterised by having a very uniform shape and by being highly versatile.
The main varieties of Californian almonds we work with are California, Carmel, Butte Padre, and Nonpareil, and they are also used as raw materials in ice creams, nougats and chocolates.
Among the varieties of California almonds, the most used are Nonpareil and California, which are ideal for their adaptability to make manufactured products and can be blanched easily.
The Californian almonds are characterised by their quality, mild flavour and their nutritional value. Like the Spanish almonds, Californian almond kernels are classified by their variety, size measured in pieces by ounce, and the quality or grades of the pieces.
World almond production has been increasing over time, in the last 10 years the ones that have most strengthened this sector, increasing its production by more than 64%
Thanks to modern planting techniques and mass cultivation of almonds, new industrialized almond products have emerged. These are characterized by having a process by which the almond is chopped into different forms and a new consumer product of the almond is obtained. Industrialized almonds are used mainly for baking recipes.
The almond varieties described above, both of Spanish origin and of California origin, can be transformed into semi-finished almond products with diverse product applications in the industry. The almond kernels go through an industrialization process resulting into industrialised almonds with different formats and qualities. Thus, we can offer whole blanched almonds, blanched almond halves or other processed products such as slices, slivers, dives or almond flours with or without skin.
The processes of obtaining industrialized almonds go through the separation of the hard crust, elimination of the skin and some are even peeled, after this filleted cuts are produced, in pieces, flours, etc. The entire process must be appropriate to its own humidity and temperature, since what is achieved is to keep the product intact.

At Almendras López we select the best Spanish and Californian almonds to be able to make an industrialised product according to what our clients need, since depending on the variety of almonds, the texture, flavour and appearance of our final product may vary.

Organic almonds stand out for their high quality since the treatment they receive during their production is very respectful and they do not incorporate chemical substances that could affect the fruit.
With the consumption of almonds of organic origin, we not only benefit our health, but we also help to take care of the environment and we collaborate with suppliers of organic almonds and farmers who respect the natural process of the almond growth. In addition, these varieties are characterised by a very intense flavour and by their high value in nutrients.
The main Spanish organic almond varieties we work with are Valencia o Comuna, Guara, Largueta and Marcona.
We can also offer organic almonds of California origin, as well as industrialised products made from certified organic almonds.
Almond shells are an excellent biofuel for industrial use or biomass for domestic use in stoves or boilers. At Almendras López, we sell completely clean bulk almond shells with no additional residues.
Using almond shells as biomass is an alternative to pellets and has more benefits since we are talking about a renewable and 100% ecological fuel. In addition, its calorific value is quite high and it gives off a low CO2 emission.
This type of ecological fuel is dust-free, that is, when it burns, its ash production is very low compared to wood. Therefore, it has fewer harmful components such as chlorine and sulfur.
Thanks to its benefits, it is ideal for industrial processes that require combustion and serves as a substitute for other fossil fuels. It can be used for drying, heating water, such as thermal oil, etc
